PS 2015... Our Highlights!

2015 was an exciting year for us at PS; so much so that it meant we were extremely busy and didn’t find the time to blog as often as we would have liked. That being said, we thought we would kick off the new Spring season with a recap over our highlights from last year with the promise to try to increase our number of posts for 2016. So here goes…

We started up quite a few things in the salon including our Product of the Month. Each month we choose a new product or range to promote, offering discount or deals to our clients.  Our client’s favourite was in May when we joined Oi Oil with Sea Salt Spray – the perfect combination to treat and style summer holiday hair. For every Oi Oil purchased clients received a free Sea Salt Spray during the month of May.

Another great Product of the Month was Pippa’s favourite – the Alchemic Shampoo and Conditioner. For every Alchemic Shampoo and Conditioner bought in March clients received a free in-salon conditioning treatment. This treatments comes in 6 different colours; silver, golden, copper, red, tobacco and chocolate. Choose the treatment suitable to your own shade and it will and intensify your hair colour further.

We have also introduced Living Window - our monthly window display that really allows us to be creative away from hair. We take inspiration from our Product of the Month by looking closely at the ingredients and then using plants and objects to create a healthy atmosphere in the window. A standout display for us was last July’s when we created an Italian themed display which included Paula’s own tomato plants. The inspiration for this display came from Davines SU - a perfect sun, sea and swim protection for your hair and body. The active ingredient across the range is chinotto, a small citrus fruit grown in Italy. The bitter taste of chinotto is recognised as the main flavouring of Campari and this Living Window was a particularly fun one to work on.

Another exciting aspect we have introduced is our loyalty card. Our clients will receive a stamp for every time they visit and spend £25 or more. On your sixth stamp you will receive your gift. Choose from £10 off your bill, an in –salon conditioning treatment or a Davines gift tailored to your hair.

In addition to the loyalty cards we have also now launched the PS prescription cards. Our mission is to look after your hair and keep it looking beautiful so during your consultation we talk to you about the best way to care for and style your hair. With the PS prescription cards we can record any products, treatments and techniques we have used during your appointment to help you recreate the style at home.

Last year we regularly welcomed our clients into our salon for events other than hair appointments…
In March we held our Mother’s Day Shopping Evening, where we invited some of our favourite people from local businesses to sell homemade gifts and vouchers to our lovely clients. This proved to be a very successful night and gave us a great opportunity to socialise with our clients and friends.
In February half term we changed our salon into a princess heaven with a Frozen Party held for girls aged 4 to 11. The girls were invited to have a haircut finished with a Frozen-inspired plait, enjoy a cupcake while colouring in Frozen pictures or have their nails and faces painted. Later on in October last year we also held an open evening to celebrate our 7th birthday. People were encouraged to pop in and receive a free hair consultation and enjoy a relaxing scalp massage whilst watching hairstyle tutorials with a cold glass of bubbly.

At the beginning of 2015 we competed In the Surrey Heath Business Awards and became runners up in the Social and Environment category. Being an active part of the community is very important to the whole team at PS Hairdressing and we all work very hard to spread the word about Little Princess Trust hair donations. Last year we sent 25 donations to the charity. For more information check out a previous blog post of ours on a charity event we held for the Little Princess Trust.

We were invited to St Augustine’s summer BBQ last August where we opened our mini Beauty Salon. A few of our team supported the school by offering hair styling and mini makeovers and raised £100 towards the school fund.

We spent further time away from the salon in September when we attended the Davines Hair on Stage show in London. This was a great chance to network with other Davines UK salons and most importantly take inspiration from different techniques and styles and feed this back into our salon in Frimley. We dedicated an entire blog post to this exciting event, which can be found here.

Above all, and most importantly, 2015 gave PS a chance to grow together as a creative hair team. We created and attended great team training days, focusing on colour and our perfected butterfly treatment massages, as well as newer services including the KS Boost. To learn more about the KS Boost, click here. We will be continuing our team training days in 2016 as it gives us a chance to learn new techniques and to discuss new ideas and upcoming trends that we can feed back to our wonderful clients.

All of our PS team took part in our fun day out last summer and faced their fears at Go Ape in Alice Holt. This was a great experience where we could enjoy an active afternoon together in a thrilling environment.

To round off our year and celebrate our 7th birthday we enjoyed or favourite Italian once again and spent an evening at Villa Bianca restaurant – located (conveniently) next to our shop!

Undeniably we have had an extremely fun, successful and creative 2015 and are all very excited for what this year will bring. Keep updated with what’s happening in our salon, and with all our upcoming plans and events through our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and of course this blog too.
