Happy Christmas from PS Hairdressing! Below is our recycled, reused and naturally inspiring Christmas window display.

This month we have been very busy in the salon with client’s cuts and colours ready for Christmas, along with creating and promoting our own PS Advent Calendar.

The team decided it would be fun to use the traditional December countdown to Christmas to give our clients and friends hair advice for the winter and festive season (as well as a few offers and gift ideas thrown in!) Our only challenge was thinking up 24 exciting and helpful tips – although we are blessed to have such a creative team who each contributed wonderful ideas. These ranged from promotional offers and giveaways to the best party nibbles for hair nutrition and a superfood hair-heath smoothie, packed full of ingredients to make your hair shine.

The next challenge was how to present them all. At PS we already use Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to share photographs quite regularly so this was easy to continue; but we wanted to expand on this for the calendar. So we decided to include a few videos…

Our lovely friend Sophie volunteered to be Elsa at a ‘Frozen’ fundraiser which included PS’ Paula recreating Elsa’s iconic Ice Queen plait, which we were able to capture on video and upload to both Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. We also uploaded “Our Easy Chignon Hair Up Demo by Pippa” and “Easy Hair Up Do for Short Hair by Pippa” – both of which are under three minutes long. These have proved popular and given us sparkling video ideas for the New Year and beyond.

Throughout the year we have been working with GHD and Davines products and have found a variety of ways to create special gifts and offers to help our wonderful clients celebrate and enjoy the brands we love. Davines has featured in a number of our advent calendar days including a free travel size set of Davines ‘Love’ Shampoo/Conditioner given with any two ‘Davines Essentials’ products purchased, as well as a free perfume with any two ‘Davines Oi’ products bought. While a GHD promotion was offered at the end of last month with a reduction on Classic Mark IV stylers

After a busy and successful year, we are looking forward to winding down for a couple of days over Christmas, and more importantly we are excited for what 2015 will bring for PS Hairdressing!

We Are Six!

A couple of weeks ago we celebrated our 6^th birthday at the salon! It’s been a brilliant 6 years within which we have worked hard to create a lovely and warm environment for both our staff and customers to enjoy.

Our location in the heart of Frimley means that we have become a part of the community and it’s so nice being able to wave at so many friendly faces we know as they pass by.

It’s wonderful watching our team in the salon, all of who have been trained at PS and fully understand the ideals we work by. For us it’s more than just cutting hair; we want our clients to enjoy our friendly atmosphere and feel relaxed from the moment they walk in.

With an exciting and successful past 6 years for PS, we’re hoping for more happiness and success in the future and look forward to what will be next on the horizon. 

Gents Hair

The awards season and red carpet events are always a great way to spot inspiring gents hair trends, and this year it’s no different. While most people may be paying attention to the numerous awards received, we at PS are paying particular attention to the hair style of each attendee, and this year, most notably the gents.

Jared Leto and Alex Ebert showcase the best way to groom their long and stylish no-nonsense hair with an androgynous and on-trend hipster man bun. Leto perfected his sleek look by shinning his hair back and neatly tying in a low bun, while ‘Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros’ front man Ebert, created a more natural and textured look.

Brad Pitt however competes with Leo Di Caprio for the best vintage look. Turn to the 2012 film ‘Lawless’ for inspiration on how to achieve Pitt’s 1930s dapper style, or focus on the flapper era for Leo’s 1920s parting, which he shows off only too well in the recent adaptation of The Great Gatsby.

Focusing now on facial hair and we learn that age doesn’t matter when it comes to sporting a beard that isn’t just for the winter season; as Tom Hardy opts for a classic short beard and Stephen Fry displays a very full goatee. However when it comes to fashion, Michael Fassbender does it best, teaming a beard with a styled moustache, creating the perfect mix of groomed and on-trend style.

Hair Extensions at PS

At PS we offer extra services alongside cuts and colour, including great quality hair extensions. Our stylists have a wide range of knowledge when it comes to hair extensions and we have been offering them in the salon for the past 5 years.

We offer two different types of extensions; Remy and Balmain – now what’s the difference?
Remy is the most popular choice for real human hair, achieving a natural look, from preserving the hair’s cuticles and aligning them in a unidirectional fashion. The latter, Balmain, focuses hugely on the quality of the hair with a dedicated team of specialists, who are well trained and educated and are active in consultation and training in over 50 countries. Balmain Hair (licensee holder of the Paris Fashion House ‘Balmain’) is more expensive than other brands such as Remy, however it is the only company in the world that gives you a 6 months quality guarantee.

We understand that this is a specific and costly service that people will want to find the very best technicians for and as a result we are offering the very best service including an extension package (available for both types of extensions). This is a tailor made package which includes the following:

·         Full head of high quality hair extensions, applied by an experienced technician and secured using glued bonds

·         Cut, blow-dry and finish

·         Home hair care guide, detangling brush and sulphate-free shampoo

·         One hour check-in appointment with shape-up scalp treatment, after 6 weeks

·         Extension security contract for 3 months

A consultation is required prior to booking for colour matching, and the price will vary depending on the type of extensions desired.

Three of our stylists have had new sets done ready for the summer, showcasing the variety of results that can be achieved with each stylist opting for a different look. Paula (pictured left of the photo) is our boho brunette with long tousled Balmain locks, while Sammi (pictured on the right) voted for a sleek blonde style using Remy hair. Ashley (having her Remy extensions put in, middle of the photo) decided on a volumized approach, creating a big fashion look.
